Colonize
We use Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) — an extensively studied, FDA-recognized safe probiotic strain — to safely and temporarily colonize the gut.

Capture
By inactivating the AcrB efflux pump, the bacteria stop expelling PFAS and instead retain it — capturing forever chemicals directly inside the cell.

Clear
The PFAS-laden probiotic is removed from the body through normal fecal elimination, lowering the total body burden with no invasive procedure.
